Hi, I have owned a chug for a little over a year now and have never been happier!! She is full grown now and weighs a little under 4 pounds. She is very small (you can hold her with one hand) and extremely friendly. She is the kind of dog that follows you at your feet wherever you go in the house. She loves to sit on my lap, she wont sleep anywhere but cuddled up next to me as close as she can get. And she is very alert as to what is going on around her. If a car pulls in the driveway she knows before I do, and is quiet protective. Once she gets to sniff someone new she loves them as much as she does me. Sometimes it takes her a few minutes to get adjusted to new people or surroundings, but she does very well. She is good with other small dogs, she loves to play with them. She is a little hesitant about bigger dogs, but I have never had a problem with her interactions. She learned to play fetch on her own when she was very young. I got her at about 2 months old. She plays all kinds of games, and learns commands faster than any dog I have ever known. And she loves small children. She is the most wonderful dog in the world. She does not slobber like many dogs, she never makes a mess, training her to go to the door when she had to go to the bathroom was easy, she has very short hair and does not shed at all, so there is no dog hair anywhere in the house. She doesn't even have that "dog smell". She is so friendly and loveable. She has so much love to offer, all chugs seem to be this way. I would honestly reccommend a chug to anyone interested in buying a dog. They are low maintainance, and ADORABLE tiny pets. If anyone has any specific questions, post a question and I will get back to you!!!

I too have a Chug, and she is a wonderful dog!! She is a lot bigger than I would have expected, her mom was 2 lbs her dad 10 and she is about 10-11 lbs. She is 6 months old and has been a really good puppy since I got her, she was very easy to potty train, she too learned how to play catch almost right away and won't sleep unless it is right by my side or in her favorite spot in the sun right in front of the heat register.

I adopted a Chug puppy about 1-1/2 years ago from a local shelter. I wasn't sure what breed she was but guessed the was Chihuahua/Pug and it was confirmed by my Vet. Her name is Honey and she is the sweetest most affectionate dog I have ever had. She loves to play and cuddle.

I'm afraid my advice isn't going to be much help because I let my little Honey sleep with me. She snuggles as close to me as she can get. If I stir during the night she will come up and snuggle next to my neck to make sure I'm Ok.

For her breath problem, you might try brushing her teeth. I know this may sound silly, but it works. I was fortunate with my little Honey that I haven't had too much trouble house breaking her. What I do is just before I go to bed I take her out for a short walk. This usually helps.
