We adopted Bucky a GR mix about a week ago. He is now 11 weeks old. He seems to be doing really well with potty training!!! I have only had one accident with him in the last 3 days!!! My problem starts at bedtime. He seems to hate his Kennel... During the day he goes in and out freely, I put treats inside and praise him when he goes in but at night he starts with a wimper and continues with real complaining last night for about 1 1/2 hrs before he fell asleep. He gets exercised and goes potty before we put him in the kennel. I know at this age he needs to go out during the night every few hrs but how do I get him to settle and sleep or will this come with time?

Thanks in advance for all the tips.

Yes it does get better, sometimes if the crate is in your room by your bed you can southe him by talking or just by being there, I myself notcied my dog will get wimpering in her crate if my other dog is upstairs with me she gets lonely.

This is pretty much in the range of the norm. Although, within time...Your dog should get used to around his surroundings of where he sleeps. Just dont ABUSE of having your pet locked up in a cage all day long.

Honestly, your problem is quite simple. My dog sleeps on the floor beside my sofa next to the computer table (period). The trick isn't really a new generation theory, rather frequency. Most dog owners tend to overlook this part in a dogs life but let me ask you where does your dog eat and where is the alpha when he/she eats?

My dogs go in and out of their kennel but they know their place. They eat inside their "little room" and they realize it's their territory. This territory is then occupied and security comes into place.

Try to be away 5 min then come back then try 10 min and move from there. The dog will get used to you beeing away more and more and he will stop tell you he wants you to come back.
